Make a Difference: Humane Society
More than ever, our animals need your assistance. With the increased financial hardships many Americans are enduring, their is an increasing amount of animals being surrendered to shelters. The Humane Society of the United States is one of the best organizations around, they work to “reduce suffering and to create meaningful social change for animals by advocating for sensible public policies, investigating cruelty and working to enforce existing laws, educating the public about animal issues, joining with corporations on behalf of animal-friendly policies, and conducting hands- on programs that make ours a more humane world.” They are the lead “disaster relief agency for animals, and… provide direct care for thousands of animals at [their] sanctuaries and rescue facilities, wildlife rehabilitation centers, and mobile veterinary clinics.”
If you are thinking of being a pet parent, please visit the shelter nearest you to help one of the many animals that are in need of a good home.
If you would like to offer other assistance, including financial assistance, or if you would like to help your local Human Society through foster care or working in the shelter as a volunteer – please search for the Humane Society in your county.
